Shady Side Trail – Climbing at Ross Park
Rock climbing & bouldering right in town!
This is a popular, convenient and family-friendly climbing area for all skill levels. Sixty marked and rated routes follow along the cliff wall, ducking behind the trees in the middle and continuing to more open sections in the South. Routes range from 5.6 to 5.12 and are about 25-30 feet tall. Each route has 3 – 4 fixed anchors at the top and set up access can be found on the far North and Far South sides of the wall.
The base of the cliff has shredded bark which is very nice for keeping ropes & equipment clean. Part of the Portneuf Greenway walking/bike path runs the length of the cliffs with shady lawns and picnic tables along the way.
There is also fantastic bouldering along base of the North wall for those who just want to practice some moves.
